Snapshot of this weeks progresses with CiviLOCK.
To help us focus on the right goals, we select one element of our current agenda each week and magnify the topic into more in-depth conversations. Currently, we have been discussing gun Safety.
We have been actively meeting with members of the community involved with public safety in different capacities from educators to members of local SWAT. It has been a privilege to sit across from experts in public safety and talk about CiviLOCK, share our goals and receive their feedback.
The temperature is high right now on the topic of guns… gun safety education is sure to help compose and direct meaningful conversations about solving the issues surrounding gun violence.

Our goal is to develop gun safety courses that promote saving lives. Here is a section right from my personal notepad outlining classes we are working on:
• Active shooter crisis management courses – Utilizing SWAT training techniques and nonlethal ammunition, participants find themselves thrown into a real-life active shooter situation. As your heart rate spikes and your adrenaline kicks in, would you be able to use your brain and think quickly and accurately to save your life and maybe the lives of others? This course is intended to promote safety skills and techniques in practical, real-life settings. Ideal for team building and encourages individual growth.
• Safety and training courses – Our family friendly facility is a perfect place to learn the basics of handling, shooting, and care for a gun. Simulators and nonlethal ammunition will ease the anxiety of first-timers and experienced gun owners alike.
• Long range rifle course – long range rifles have become very popular. We have the best trainers in the business, and when you add fully outfitted camping trips and fun after hour’s shooting games, it makes for a beneficial and memorable experience.
• Concealed carry course – offered with regulatory standards and CiviLOCK gun safety curriculum.
• Self-defense courses – partnering with top training professionals we can show you how to disarm an attacker without the use of a firearm.
One purpose of CiviLOCK is to provide a pulpit to Americans who are sick of seeing gun violence pop up in their news feed. Organizations like Every Town have been working tirelessly to spread the word about gun violence issues since 2012. Unless you have been living under a rock (if so now may not be the best time to come out), the topic of #gunsafety has the attention of every American.
However, one question remains, why is gun violence still a persisting issue today?
